At last I have got rid of the
pair of them. And good riddance too! They
were both nuisances. One of them drained too
much of my energy, and the other was just plain
lazy - sleeping too long, even in the middle of
the day. So they had to go!
I am talking about my wireless
mouse and my wireless keyboard, that came with
the PC I purchased some time ago.
The mouse used up batteries as
if they grew on trees. Rechargeable ones lasted
no time at all before needing changing and it
was a nuisance having to interrupt my work and
flow of thought to change them. The thing had no
on/off switch and blinked red 24/7 - the only
way of switching it off was to take off the
cover and remove the battery - and constant
messing around might have damaged the plastic
catch.
Not a very eco-friendly product
from one of the top PC manufacturers!
The keyboard seemed to increase
the time the computer needed to wake up after
going on standby.
Why did I ever put up with them?
Because I was stuck in a mental frame that
perceived benefits where there weren't any.
Because they were "newer
technology".
Because they were "part of the
system".
Because they were "less
cluttered".
What are you putting up with and
why?
Are the benefits you perceive
really benefits?
Can you experiment with doing
without it for a day or a week and see what
happens?
Or using something simpler that
will do the job just fine?
